The Gallyon Holkham

THE CLASSIC ENGLISH GAME GUN, BUILT FOR THE FUTURE

For centuries, Holkham has been acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest shooting estates, fashioning many of the sport’s ancient traditions and codes.

Situated on the North Norfolk coast, the 25,000-acre estate is dedicated to the conservation practices upheld by all true sportsmen. The Holkham name is synonymous with the best of British gameshooting and Gallyon is proud to name its premier models after the estate by kind permission of The 8th Earl of Leicester.

The Holkham Estate and Gallyon partnership

The Earl of Leicester

The Holkham Estate and Gallyon share a longstanding East Anglian heritage. Holkham is widely acknowledged as the home of driven gameshooting in Britain, while Gallyon guns have been shot on our estate since the late 1780s.

Our two institutions share similar values of progress, quality and a keen eye for aesthetics and attention to detail, so I'm delighted the new premium Gallyon gun model will carry the Holkham name.  It is a wonderful example of the company’s craftsmanship.

I look forward to hosting events with Gallyon on the estate where these fine guns can be experienced fully, and one can see first-hand what a modern British gun can truly and reliably accomplish.”

Trigger pulls are positive and precise, with pulls of 3¼lb.

Lockwork components are PVD performance coated to protect against corrosion and to reduce the ‘lock time’, which is the period between the trigger being pulled and the firing-pin hitting the cartridge cap.

Safety mechanism can be configured as either automatic or manual, according to the customer’s preference.

  • Choice of either 29-,30- or 32- inch barrels that are precision machined using a multi-axis CNC turning centre from solid billets of chromium molybdenum steel.

  • The side plates of the Holkham provide an extensive canvas for the Gallyon House Style, that takes its inspiration from Dr. Christopher Dresser [1834-1904]. Dresser was a British designer who was one of the most pivotal figures of the ‘Aesthetic Movement’ and the modern style of ‘Art Nouveau’, both of which styles evolved from the Arts and Crafts Movement.

The streamlined design and essential features of the introductory ’Holkham’ caters to more practical needs. It offers a more affordable option without compromising on functionality and performance.

‘Dresser’ style, fully hand engraved models, are available as an option along with bespoke engraving choices, both of these as special orders.

After engraving the action will be performance coated using Physical Vapour Deposition [PVD], a coating which is extremely hard wearing and provides exceptional corrosion resistance.

  • To give maximum performance in the field, each gun is fitted to the customer by Gallyon approved specialists.
